For its first edition, the international tech gathering Nexus2050 is a multifaceted concept. Both a symposium and a B2B trade show, it's also a networking event with a dedicated matchmaking application, 200 startups selected to present, and a grand closing dinner with 1,200 guests. Not to forget the official inauguration in the presence of H.R.H. the Crown Prince and the European Commissioner for Innovation and Research, Iliana Ivanova.

And for this first edition, the organizers are thinking big. "We expect more than 5,000 participants, a hundred exhibitors, 200 speakers across 4 stages, 200 startups, and a whole series of side events," announces Mike Koedinger, co-founder of G.I.E. Nexus2050. "It's a great showcase of Luxembourg's tech and innovation ecosystem and will feature numerous public and private initiatives."

Announcements at D-50

More than 200 startups are presenting at Nexus2050. While there are startups from Luxembourg and the Greater Region, there are also ones from Asia (New Delhi, Shanghai, Seoul, Tokyo, Taipei), Africa (Casablanca), the Middle East (Abu Dhabi, Tel Aviv), and many European countries (Germany, Spain, France, Czech Republic, United Kingdom). "We can accommodate twice as many startups because we offer them the opportunity to exhibit on one day and network on the other," explains Kamel Amroune, co-founder. "It's more interesting for startups, but also for visitors who will have 100 startups to discover each day."

Although Nexus2050 is a private initiative of companies The Dots and Maison Moderne who have created a G.I.E. for the occasion, the event is realized in collaboration with the Luxembourg government, the European Commission, and the City of Luxembourg, as well as many institutions. "Thanks to these collaborations, Nexus2050 shines internationally from its first edition," adds Mike Koedinger. "Whether it's the Ministry of the Economy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, the Chamber of Commerce, or the network of Luxembourg embassies and Luxembourg Trade and Investment Offices, these are indispensable strategic partnerships."

Financial Hub

For the financial hub, Nexus2050 is also a must-attend event. "We have created a Finance District at Nexus2050, with numerous stands and its own stage," explains Kamel Amroune. "We work with key organizations such as ABBL, ACA, AFLI, Lhoft, LPEA, and Luxembourg for Finance to co-build the conference program. The presence of the CSSF regulator is particularly interesting for startups and international visitors. It's unprecedented for a tech event. Thanks to Lhoft and Luxembourg for Finance, we have the presence of fintech incubators from Denmark, France, Germany, and Asia."

Nexus2050 fosters collaborations, such as with Fedil for organizing "10x6 Industry 4.0," the Digital Learning Hub for "10x6 Re- and Upskilling in today’s AI world," IMS and Wide for round tables, the Luxembourg Startup Association for a Fireside Chat, or with the Luxembourg Ukraine Chamber of Commerce coordinating activities within the framework of "Guest Country: Ukraine."

200 Speakers

As for speakers, following the recent announcement of Eryka Lehr (Chief of Staff, Google), futurist Prof. Dr. Anabel Ternès von Hattburg, entrepreneur and philanthropist Alexandre Mars, or Maximilian Tayentahl, co-founder of N26, the complete list can be found here, although the program is still in progress, and more experts will be added.

"Four months after its market entry, the trade show is almost full," reassures Kamel Amroune. "There are still a few stands available. We have succeeded in showcasing not only large Luxembourgish companies but also international brands."

Practical Information

The largest tech and business event in Luxembourg and the Greater Region will take place on over 11,000 m2 at Luxexpo (Luxembourg City) on June 26 and 27, 2024. Tickets are available here.
