Telecom Luxembourg Private Operator acquires Unify’s cloud-based voice platform and customer contracts
Unify, one of the world’s leading communications software and services companies, has accepted a takeover bid for its cloud-based voice service and customer contracts in Luxembourg by Telecom Luxembourg Private Operator (TLPO)
The takeover of Unify’s cloud portfolio underlines our intentions to support customers in their increasing migration to the cloud so they can fully utilize these services

The agreement closes negotiations opened by both companies last April. As TLPO and Unify already share infrastructure and offer similar portfolios, both companies not only agreed to develop a clear strategy within the voice and Unified Communications and Collaboration (UCC) market, but also boost TLPO’s cloud services supported by its fiber-based network that ensures high-quality performance and connectivity.
“We are first and foremost a telecom operator, and as such, providing connectivity and professional services for data centers as well as fixed and mobile telephony remains our main goal,” explains Jérôme Grandidier, CEO of Telecom Luxembourg Private Operator. “The takeover of Unify’s cloud portfolio underlines our intentions to support customers in their increasing migration to the cloud so they can fully utilize these services,” he adds.
The takeover also paves the way for a significant upgrade of Unify’s current cloud platform: starting 1 February, several UCC functionalities will be aligned under the label ‘voicecloud 2.0’.
Currently, voicecloud 1.0 makes business voice functionalities available to customers on a fixed or mobile network. This global solution is based on a shared, fully redundant and secured operational infrastructure. The functionalities offered perfectly address companies’ specific communication needs. The platform’s current configuration supports all functionalities up to 6.000 companies and up to 20.000 end users at once.
For Unify, this agreement aligns with the new strategic approach the company’s CEO, Dean Douglas, announced in April 2014 to redirect its go-to-market strategy, relying on trusted partners to cover a broader scope of the market. In Luxembourg, the goal is to reach a ratio of 60% direct sales versus 40% indirect sales revenue as quickly as possible.
“The deal is perfectly timed for us, as it is fully in line with our new strategic perspective,” says Jean-François Terminaux, Managing Director Unify Luxembourg. “This agreement is actually a logical next-step in the joint offering we had with TLPO for a while now. This brings about a simplification of our current offerings on the market: TLPO will not only be the only company offering voicecloud, but from February onward, voicecloud 2.0 will add a new dimension to these cloud services.” He concludes: “Even with TLPO as the single contact point for the customer, our local Unify teams will continue to ensure the platform’s operability and maintenance.”
TLPO continually keeps pace with new evolutions in cloud services to bring a wider business portfolio to market. TLPO’s primary purpose is boosting its customers’ competitiveness and professionalism through highly flexible voice and data connectivity.
Note that Telecom Luxembourg Private Operator partners can profit from a white label wholesale offer.
