In her PwC career, currently spanning 18 years, Begga worked for PwC Luxembourg (first as Director, then Partner) for almost 14 years with a secondment to PwC New York. From 2018 - until 2022 she spent an additional four years as Partner in the financial services tax practice of PwC Switzerland. Prior to PwC, Begga was Tax Manager at Aventis from 2002  until Jul 2004.

Newly relocated back to Luxembourg, Begga Sigurdardottir will have a new focus, leading our TCDR practice, advising and supporting our clients throughout their tax controversy and dispute resolution processes, thereby leveraging PwC’s deep technical knowledge of tax in combination with procedural know-how.

One of her objectives will be to build up the existing practice as tax disputes increase internationally. In this capacity, Begga will co-lead the tax technical office supporting teams internally, on a foundation of her over 20 years experience in the asset management space and international taxation.

Speaking about her new role, Begga Sigurdardottir, Tax Partner, Tax Controversy Leader says: “I am delighted to be back in Luxembourg. Like myself, the financial centre here has an international outlook.  Over the years, I have developed a deep knowledge in various areas and I am excited about this new challenge and working again with my colleagues. Having spent time in several geographical locations and in different departments within PwC throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to develop a solid understanding of different tax, regulatory and practical issues. My new role offers another avenue where I can serve clients and learn new skills while also applying my years of experience.”

Gerard Cops, Partner, Tax Services Leader PwC Luxembourg, says: “We are delighted to welcome Begga Sigurdardottir back to our Tax Services team in Luxembourg. With her extensive PwC US and PwC Switzerland experience, she is a most genuine example of PwC’s global network mobility and collaboration strategy.

The growing complexity of global and local tax rules will result in a rapid increase of cross-border and Luxembourg tax controversy. Our clients are therefore in need of an expert Tax Controversy and Tax Dispute Resolution advisor to support them.  Begga will be leading our PwC TCDR practice with her true passion and expertise.  Our TCDR team looks forward to advising and supporting our clients through all stages of their TCDR journey.”
