Banque de Luxembourg marks its centenary with a retrospective exhibition which will be open to the public
Banque de Luxembourg, whose history is closely linked to that of the Grand Duchy, is celebrating its centenary in 2020. To mark the occasion, it is hosting a retrospective photo exhibition which will be open to the public on 26 October at the Bank’s headquarters on Boulevard Royal.
Pierre Ahlborn, Administrateur Délégué, explains the importance of the centenary: “We are drawing on our past to help build our vision for the future. We have lived through several difficult periods, including the Great Depression in the 1930s, the Second World War, successive oil crises and financial crises, and have embraced every challenge as an opportunity to move forward and build remarkable resilience. Over 100 years, we have learned to see each new crisis as an opportunity to improve and adapt. The centenary also presents a natural opportunity to thank our clients, employees and fellow citizens and talk to them about future challenges.”
To commemorate the anniversary, the Bank enlisted the help of Parisian agency les bâtisseurs de mémoire, which spent two years digging into the Bank’s facts, stories, archives and heritage. This historical research resulted in an illustrated book, a retrospective exhibition and a website offering insights into the past, present and future.
The book: “1920-2020: 100 Years of Banking in Luxembourg”
Based on research initiated by the Bank, the book “1920-2020: 100 Years of Banking in Luxembourg” charts the eight key periods that shaped Banque de Luxembourg’s DNA. Complimentary copies are available from our headquarters at 14 boulevard Royal à Luxembourg and can also be ordered on our special centenary website www.banquedeluxembourg100ans.com
A commemorative website bringing together the threads of the past, present and future
A dedicated website, www.banquedeluxembourg100ans.com, has been launched to mark the occasion. The site reveals the Bank’s history and explores future challenges through stories, articles, podcasts and employee testimonials.
