Speaking at the inauguration, Jean Claude Kihn, Goodyear’s President for Europe, Middle East and Africa, said: “Goodyear’s strategy is founded on producing high-quality, innovative products as the shift to more complex, high-value added tires continues to accelerate. Our investment in this state of the art facility will enable us to meet the exacting demands of our customers and consumers. Additionally, it further strengthens our presence in and commitment to Luxembourg.”

The new Goodyear Tire Test Laboratory is equipped to perform three key testing activities. The lab will conduct tire development performance measurements, where all new tire developments need to successfully pass certain performance criteria under strictly controlled conditions. The new lab will also conduct regulatory and homologation tests to measure tire compliance with a large variety of global and international standards, as well as monitor production performance and ensure quality control.

In addition to Kihn and other Goodyear leaders, the laboratory was inaugurated by Gast Jacobs, mayor of Colmar-Berg.

Speaking at the event, Mayor Jacobs said: “Goodyear has a long history of innovation, research and development in Luxembourg. We welcome its continuous support with diversifying the economy in Luxembourg and here in Colmar-Berg especially.”

Carlos Cipollitti, Goodyear’s vice president, Product Development EMEA and general director of the Goodyear Innovation Center in Luxembourg, added, “The innovative technology and machinery in the new laboratory strengthens our ability to test tires in our lab, which means that we do not have to perform as much testing on the road, speeding development time and getting innovative new tires to customers faster than ever.”
