The Luxembourg Mousel - Diekirch brewery remains committed to Diekirch
The Brasserie de Luxembourg Mousel-Diekirch today announced an investment of €25 million in a new brewery
The ‘Draïeck Dikrech’ property development project, run by Luxembourg developer Coogee SARL since 2001, will see the redevelopment of the historic site which involves the creation of 200 homes, offices and commercial spaces. The inauguration of the new brewery is expected at the beginning of 2018.
“We are able to reassure all fans of Diekirch! We will continue to brew in Luxembourg thanks to the daily efforts of our employees and a substantial investment of €25 million in our new brewery. We are creating the Diekirch brewery of the future, because we are sure of our potential for growth in Luxembourg and will do everything to maintain and expand our strong position in the Grand Duchy,” says Stijn De Beer, Country Director, Brasserie de Luxembourg Mousel-Diekirch. The Brasserie de Luxembourg will manage its own brewery premises and brewing process.
The new brewery will be built on the current site and will have the latest technology to guarantee the production of Diekirch and Mousel beers. During the works and up until the new site is handed over, brewing will carry on in the current brewery. Jobs will be preserved because employees based in Diekirch will continue to guarantee the quality of these typical Luxembourg beers.
“After considering various options, it became obvious that we owe everything to having Luxembourg roots, dating back to 1871, and our brewing tradition. We made the conscious choice to identify ourselves more closely than ever with our Luxembourg roots and consumers,” concludes Stijn De Beer.
During the planning of the ‘Dräieck Dikrech’ project, Coogee SARL, the joint venture formed by Saphir Capital Partners and Matexi Luxembourg, gave top priority to building the new brewery. The redevelopment of this historic site, managed by Coogee SARL, will include the construction of over 200 homes as well as several commercial spaces, including the new offices of the Brasserie de Luxembourg.
“We are delighted that the AB InBev Group is continuing to invest in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg,” says John Penning, Managing Director of Saphir Capital Partners and director of Coogee SARL. “Our collaboration with AB InBev since 2010 has been excellent, and we are confident that the new brewery will complement the redevelopment of the ‘Draïeck Dikrech’ site perfectly,” he concludes.
Jérôme Simon, country manager of Matexi Luxembourg and director of Coogee SARL adds, “We are delighted to be able to bring our proven experience in property development to one of the most ambitious urban renewal projects in Luxembourg.”
In addition, the Brasserie de Luxembourg is giving the city of Diekirch a copper brewing kettle. This iconic gift shows the commitment of the brewery to the city which saw its birth and growth.
