In March 2016, the ING FinTech Village officially launched its operations in Diegem, near Brussels, with several start-ups receiving support from sponsors and ING partners to prepare their proofs of concept:

  • PayKey (Israel): a payment keyboard for mobile apps
  • Delio (United Kingdom): private equity investments for private banking clients
  • IsItYou (Israel): user authentication via facial recognition
  • Anglr (Belgium): text recognition and analysis
  • HopOn (Israel): a mobile ticketing app for public transport
  • POM: mobile, digital management of billing
  • Contract.fit: helps optimise energy costs and can automatically transfer customers to a new energy provider

Four months after the launch, these companies had the opportunity on Demo Day to present the progress they have made on their projects to the public.

As a reminder, the goal of ING's FinTech Village is to jump-start the growth of innovative developers of financial applications, from Belgium and around the world, thanks to the support of ING and its partners who have lent their expertise to FinTech Village. These partners are Deloitte, SWIFT Innotribe, Belcube, Smartfin Capital, IBM, Eggsplore and Startups.be.

The coaching program at ING's FinTech Village helps the selected start-ups create solutions that will contribute to providing a better customer experience or will help ING innovate in other ways.

After this summer, ING will select a new intake of start-ups, giving those from Luxembourg the opportunity to apply to FinTech Village too! More information to come.

Additionally, still on the subject of supporting innovation, the ING Innovation Studio, based in Amsterdam and mostly oriented towards brand-new start-ups, received applications from two start-ups from Luxembourg that applied to the incubator/accelerator programme. These two start-ups have made it to the final round of selection.
