In the short term I wish to have a coverage as complete as possible with a quality that suits the needs of all, to satisfy the growing demand for ultra high-speed connectivity in the Grand-Duchy. The interconnection of these networks with other European countries is an other key element for our development, allowing us to support companies from Luxembourg in their own development

Jean Christophe Bayet, director in charge of networks with Orange Luxembourg SA

The convergent operator increases its mobile coverage and optimizes the interlacing of its network to guarantee a service without gaps. The new sites are:
Alzingen, Vianden, Bereldange, the site of “Belle Etoile” in Strassen, Clervaux, Windhof, Redange and the “Rocade” of Differdange.

The coverage of 2G now reaches 99,9%, 3G 95% and 4G 74% of the population. The traffic axis in the Grand-Duchy and heavy activity zones in the North of the country undergo currently particular studies.

The program for investments in new sites is sustained and enforced by quality measuring campaigns throughout the country. Besides Orange Luxembourg is waiting for numerous authorisations from public authorities to continue its efforts for densification and optimal interlacing of its networks, the objective being to reach a coverage of 90% of the population in 4G by the end of 2015. Luxembourg would be one of the first European countries to have such an extensive high speed mobile coverage. The network extension requires a complex fine-tuning to address the increasing demand for data connections. Orange Luxembourg’s CEO, Wener DeLaet has recently appointed Jean Christophe Bayet IT & networks  director, who has made the extension of the networks his priority and is introducing new rollout and management procedures.

“In the short term I wish to have a coverage as complete as possible with a quality that suits the needs of all, to satisfy the growing demand for ultra high-speed connectivity in the Grand-Duchy. The interconnection of these networks with other European countries is an other key element for our development, allowing us to support companies from Luxembourg in their own development,” explains Jean Christophe Bayet, director in charge of networks with Orange Luxembourg SA
