Deloitte University EMEA bears testimony to our desire to foster interaction among Deloitte member firms. The development of an international curriculum will allow staff from all member firms to gain new perspectives on handling client challenges and managing day-to-day situations

Yves Francis, Deloitte Luxembourg’s Managing Partner

Located in La Hulpe, Belgium, the university builds on the success of Deloitte University launched two years ago in Westlake, Texas, USA, which has been attended by more than 50,000 people from over 70 countries. DU EMEA’s curriculum is tailored to the region’s needs to deliver cutting-edge learning that will develop the next generation of international business leaders and advisers. Courses will be led by current Deloitte leaders who will share their knowledge and on-the-job experiences in a classroom setting. Deloitte is working alongside with Dolce Hotels and Resorts for the hosting of the centrally organised training.

The opening ceremony of DU EMEA, which took place on Monday, 16 December, was attended by over 350 participants to celebrate the collective commitment taken by the participating member firms, including Deloitte Global CEO Barry Salzberg and Bob Geldof, who attended as keynote speaker.

In addition to Deloitte Luxembourg, member firms in Austria, Belgium, Central Europe, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and the United Kingdom were involved in the university’s development.

Deloitte University EMEA bears testimony to our desire to foster interaction among Deloitte member firms. The development of an international curriculum will allow staff from all member firms to gain new perspectives on handling client challenges and managing day-to-day situations,” said Deloitte Luxembourg’s Managing Partner, Yves Francis.

Deloitte Luxembourg already became an active participant in the university, as close to 200 staff members have taken part in the pilot programme since January 2013 and over 100 more are planned to attend courses in the first half of 2014.

Raymond Krawczykowski, Talent Leader of Deloitte Luxembourg, explains: “We place great importance in developing our talent, starting from the first day people work for Deloitte. Our professionals are our greatest asset, thus we are committed to supporting them in developing their expertise and building their leadership. Deloitte University is one element, alongside mobility programmes locally or internationally, the possibility to study towards professional qualifications and events to share knowledge across our various service lines, such as ‘Deliver the firm’. Over the last 12 months, more than 80,000 hours of training were delivered firm wide.”

Organised in order to foster Deloitte Luxembourg’s integrated approach and the quality in offering services to its clients, ‘Deliver the firm’ recently took place over a period of two days. The event featured workshops and presentations on a majority of the firm’s services and attracted more than 1,000 employees from all of the firm’s service lines: audit, tax and consulting.

Deloitte Luxembourg’s focus on learning and development is also reflected through its new HR campaign ‘Shape your future’, which was launched in November. Delphine Berlemont, HR Operations Director, explains: “Illustrated through the concept of origami, ‘Shape your future’ invites individuals to unfold and develop their career at Deloitte. We trust this will allow us to transport our firm spirit to students and professionals looking for a challenging and enriching work environment.

The new campaign can be seen on Deloitte Luxembourg’s career website (www.deloitte.com/lu/careers) and ‘Your future at Deloitte’ Facebook page.
