The selected projects received support by the KPMG Foundation and by partners and staff, through fundraising initiatives as well as donations by the firm.

All donations are destined to support the specific activities of Luxembourg-based NGOs which operate either locally (in Luxembourg and the Grande Région) or internationally (Africa or Asia). The selection of projects is based on the alignment with the KPMG Foundation’s objectives and seeks to drive long-lasting change for those in need.

The relationships established with the charities since the Foundation’s creation in 2009 have allowed for a close monitoring and follow-up of the results achieved. Simultaneously, several charities have been sponsored for projects more than once, which goes to demonstrate the long-term perspective of the Foundation’s strategy.

In collaboration with these selected organisations, the KPMG Luxembourg Foundation has been focusing on the United Nations first three “Millennium Development Goals” – ranging from the eradication of poverty and hunger, the provision of primary education to children to the empowerment of women by generating access to income sources. Projects in areas such as food security, sustainable farming, and access to primary health care but also capacity building for women and children in the poorest regions of Africa and Asia have been supported. Locally, the Foundation mainly focuses on projects helping children as well as their families, whether socially disadvantaged and underprivileged, or suffering from particular health problems.

As giving back to our communities is an important part of life at KPMG and it is engraved in our values, the KPMG Foundation invited representatives of all supported charities on 9 October to KPMG’s main office in Strassen for a press conference and a cocktail to celebrate this ongoing success and yearly milestone.

For several years now, KPMG Luxembourg S.à r. l. has adopted an inclusive approach to their responsibility as a corporate citizen. As such, clear policies on environmental impacts and an outspoken commitment to community support are vital pillars of the strategy of Corporate Social Responsibility.

The core business activities of KPMG Luxembourg - Audit, Tax and Advisory - represent the main source of donations to the KPMG Luxembourg Foundation, contributing with a fixed percentage of the annual turnover irrespective of the level of profit earned by the firm. Also the employees of KPMG Luxembourg play a part in the yearly donations, by participating in fundraising or charitable events such as the ING Marathon, the Relais pour la Vie or by initiating projects themselves.

The KPMG Luxembourg Foundation is a non-profit organisation and was established in 2009. It is a separate entity to KPMG Luxembourg’s core services of Audit, Tax and Advisory. The creation of the Foundation is engraved in KPMG Luxembourg’s values as we believe that giving back to our communities is an important part of life at KPMG.
