Cargolux: IATA confirms Cargo 2000 Platinum Classification for 2013
After completion of its membership classification review process, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) has confirmed the Cargo 2000 platinum member status of Cargolux Airlines International S.A. on 26 February, thereby recognizing the airline’s successful integration and endorsement of the Cargo 2000 (C2K) initiative.
The renewal of our platinum status recognizes our continued efforts towards enhancing the quality of our service to customers. It allows us to benchmark our performance and to improve the reliability and efficiency of our operations
Richard Forson, Cargolux Interim President and Chief Executive Officer
Cargolux first gained platinum membership status in March 2012. As a platinum member, Cargolux finds itself among only nine members that have reached the highest level of the C2K classification system.
‘The renewal of our platinum status recognizes our continued efforts towards enhancing the quality of our service to customers. It allows us to benchmark our performance and to improve the reliability and efficiency of our operations,’ said Richard Forson, Cargolux Interim President and Chief Executive Officer.
Cargolux became a certified member of Cargo 2000 in 2003 and has endorsed the C2K initiative since its beginning. The airline’s platinum membership is synonymous with outstanding service and reliable procedures.
‘The C2K initiative places a measurable quality management system between freight forwarders and carriers and contributes to further improve the service of the ground handlers’, added Franco Nanna, Head of Network Support at Cargolux. ’C2K helps reaching operational excellence through agreed standardized means.’
Cargo 2000 aims at improving the efficiency of the global air cargo industry, enhancing customer service levels and reducing the operational costs of all participants. The goal is to meet the shipment planning and tracking requirements of the shippers and consignees who have strongly endorsed the project.
Cargo 2000 operates as an industry group within IATA, composed of more than 80 major airlines, freight forwarders, ground handling agents, trucking companies and IT providers and aims to improve the performance of air freight through the implementation of a quality management system for the industry.
