Our database of millions of open access, free, scientific publications aims to enhance access to research results without discrimination. At the same time, our business model is based on offering low-priced and easy access to published, peer reviewed, scholarly content that is not open access

Virginie Simon, MyScienceWork CEO

MyScienceWork, the communication platform for scientists and a growing international community of researchers, today announced completion of $1.1 million fundraising. This second round of funding brings to $2.6 million the total amount raised by the company.

MyScienceWork will use the cash to build on its commercial offer and its international development. The company’s core objective is to give wide access to scientific information to untargeted markets, through digital tools and a professional scientific social media. A unique platform combining access to millions of scientific publications in open access, a community of tens of thousands of scientists from all countries and a large database of other research-related content like jobs offers, conferences and science news. After releasing its official platform in September 2013, the company has worked on developing its premium offer, to be released soon. To tackle the US market, the MyScienceWork executive team will join the Plug and Play incubator in April 2014.

“Our database of millions of open access, free, scientific publications aims to enhance access to research results without discrimination. At the same time, our business model is based on offering low-priced and easy access to published, peer reviewed, scholarly content that is not open access,” explains MyScienceWork’s CEO, Virginie Simon. “There are still many professionals who can’t access academic results, because they don’t belong to an institution paying millions to access the publications,” adds cofounder Tristan Davaille. The scientific communication company already earns revenue through science journalism and communication. As a second step it will soon release its premium account. The dynamic team is also developing an approach to enhancing university and institutional communication of research results through innovative social approaches.
