DLA Piper grows Luxembourg funds practice with two key hires
DLA Piper has appointed Dr. Marcel Bartnik as counsel and Aurélien Favier as senior associate to its Luxembourg investment funds team, part of the Corporate practice.
Marcel previously worked as counsel at Arendt & Medernach, where he specialised in investment fund work, advising clients on the regulatory and corporate aspects of structuring and establishing investment funds and investment companies. His work included UCITS, AIFs as well as management companies, AIFMs and RAIF vehicles.
Aurélien previously worked in the securities services branch of a leading French bank in Luxembourg, after having worked for international law firms in Luxembourg. Aurélien's areas of practice include advising fund managers and financial institutions on the structuring and establishing of investment funds, particularly private equity and real estate funds. He also advises clients about general regulatory matters in relation to AIFMD, UCITS and the financial services sectors.
These new hires build on the growing investment funds practice in Luxembourg, servicing the needs of international clients looking to take advantage of the broad range of Luxembourg structuring options. The team provides practical and innovative advice about regulated and non-regulated funds, their managers, their service providers and their investors.
Catherine Pogorzelski, Country Managing Partner for DLA Piper in Luxembourg, said: "We have strong international and regional growth aspirations for our investment funds practice and the hire of Marcel and Aurélien very much reinforces this strategy. Both have substantial experience, are well respected in their field and will be a considerable asset to our existing capabilities as we continue to grow the practice."
Andrew Wylie, Head of Investment Funds in the Corporate practice at DLA Piper, said: "We are delighted to welcome both Marcel and Aurélien to the international funds practice with their hires further enhancing our global investment funds offering. DLA Piper is perfectly positioned to advise on all aspects of the investment funds industry on a global basis. Luxembourg is a key jurisdiction for the investment funds industry and we are delighted to add to our excellent team there."
