Florian Karner brings 25 years of experience in the insurance and reinsurance industry, holding, among others, senior leadership positions in GE Insurance Solutions and Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty.

In tight coordination with the EarthLab Luxembourg Chairman of the Board, Massimo Claudio Comparini, Mr. Karner leads the development of the company’s strategy, understanding the needs and requirements of the target clientele and the innovative technologies. The objective is to offer unique competitive solutions in the area of geo-information, building core competencies in this segment as well as drawing on the expertise of EarthLab Luxembourg’s shareholders and its partners.

In June 2015, Telespazio France, the French subsidiary of the Telespazio group (Finmeccanica/Thales), e-GEOS (subsidiary of the Italian Space Agency and Telespazio group), the wholly state-owned postal and telecommunications company POST Luxembourg, and the SME HITEC Luxembourg announced their strategic partnership, founding EarthLab Luxembourg S.A. as an industrial initiative complementary to the European program Copernicus defined and managed by the European Commission.

Supported by the Luxembourg government, EarthLab Luxembourg is the third center of the international EarthLab Galaxy program (www.earthlab-galaxy.com ) initiated by Telespazio France, after the set-up in 2013 of EarthLab Aquitaine, the original center in partnership with the Aquitaine region council, and of EarthLab Gabon, in partnership with the Gabonese government.
