From 1 September 2014, Dutch carrier AIS Airlines will offer 4 weekly and direct flights from Luxembourg to Bremen in the North of Germany. Bremen is the second most populous city in northwestern Germany just behind nearby Hamburg. It is the 10th largest city in Germany and an important commercial and industrial city with a major port on the river Weser. It is home to a number of major manufacturers such as Airbus and Mercedes Benz. Furthermore a large number of food producing- or trading companies have their German or European headquarters in Bremen: Annheuser-Busch Inbev, Kellogg’s, Kraft Foods, Melitta and many others. The city also is home to the largest wine cellar in the world, located below the city’s main square.

Bremen Airport is slightly bigger than Luxembourg Airport; 2.6 million passengers used it in 2013. Bremen offers a range of business and leisure destinations. The new direct connection with Luxembourg is clearly oriented towards a business audience. A daily flight from Luxembourg direct to Bremen will be offered Monday to Thursday. Flights will depart Bremen at 12:30, arriving in Luxembourg at 14:00. The return flight leaves Luxembourg at 14:30, arriving in Bremen at 16:00. Flights will be operated by a Jetstream 32 aircraft.

AIS Airlines is a Dutch Business Airline offering flights from Bremen to German and Swiss business destinations. It also offers scheduled flights to the Great Britain and Scandinavia. Harry van Lieshout, Sales Director of AIS Airlines said: “Luxembourg is a perfect addition to our portfolio of business destinations from Bremen, just like Zürich and Nürnberg. We see a lot of business potential for Luxembourg from the northwest of Germany. “

Jürgen Bula, CEO of City Airport Bremen said: “Following clear signals from the business community in the northwest of Germany, we are very happy to add Luxembourg to our many business destinations from September onwards.” Johan Vanneste, CEO of Luxembourg Airport added: “I am very pleased to welcome AIS Airlines to Luxembourg Airport. The direct flight to Bremen clearly is a very nice addition to our network of business destinations.”
