Deloitte Luxembourg recently held its annual CSR Klenge Maart, a full day internal event dedicated to CSR and charity, attracting more than 500 employees. As in previous years, over ten local NGOs (Charities included Amiavy, Boutique Tiers Monde d'Ettelbruck, Croix-Rouge Luxembourgeoise, Ecole pour Tous au Vietnam, Hand an Hand asbl, Hoa Trang-Fleur Blanche, Jayandra ASBL, Les Grillons, Pharmaciens Sans Frontières and Privaten Déiereschutz Niederanve) in which staff actively participate, were present to sell goods in support of their cause
Not least because we have several Filipino staff members here in Luxembourg, our hearts are close to those who have suffered from the damage wrought by Haiyan. It is our responsibility to stand alongside the international community and help the Philippines overcome this difficult period

Additionally, a training circuit invited employees to row, cycle or run in order to raise funds. For each kilometre of the total 200 completed, the firm donated €5. Moreover, employees sold homemade treats for the benefit of the Luxembourg Red Cross. Overall, the event raised a total amount of €7,500 to support humanitarian projects.
“Our CSR activities at Deloitte are organised around three main pillars: people, planet and society,” explains Elisabeth Layer, audit partner leading the CSR activities at Deloitte Luxembourg. “With our annual Klenge Maart we seek to increase our impact on society, which we believe is an essential responsibility for a firm like ours. Furthermore, we use this opportunity to showcase our comprehensive CSR programme to staff. Our activities range from well-being to sports clubs and waste and consumption management to our ‘Give & Share’ initiative, in which our professionals offer their expertise for free in order to support NGOs in their field.”
Taking action beyond the usual CSR programme, Deloitte Luxembourg supported the Philippines through their struggle against the damage of Super Typhoon Haiyan. During the CSR Klenge Maart event, Managing Partner Yves Francis handed over a cheque of €10,000 to Doctors Without Borders, who provide on-site assistance with over 100 doctors, nurses, surgeons, logisticians, psychologists as well as water and sanitation experts. In addition to this amount donated by the firm, employees are still raising funds for the same cause. “Not least because we have several Filipino staff members here in Luxembourg, our hearts are close to those who have suffered from the damage wrought by Haiyan. It is our responsibility to stand alongside the international community and help the Philippines overcome this difficult period.” says Yves Francis, Managing Partner at Deloitte Luxembourg.
