China Construction Bank (CCB) moves in to 1 Boulevard Royal

China Construction Bank Corporation (CCB) has chosen 1 Boulevard Royal as the location for its new Luxembourg head office. Wishing to expand its presence in Europe, CCB announced last September during a visit to Luxembourg that it would be opening a branch in the country. Wang Hongzhang, Chairman of CCB, said the decision was motivated by the Grand Duchy's stable economic environment, the regulatory framework quality and the financial services of the finance centre.

Headquartered in Beijing, China Construction Bank Corporation has an operating history of nearly 60 years. The Bank has been listed on Hong Kong Stock Exchange since October 2005 (stock code: 939) and on the Shanghai Stock Exchange since September 2007 (stock code: 601939). At the end of 2012, the market capitalisation of the Bank reached US$200 billion, ranking 2nd among listed banks in the world. The Bank had a network of 14,121 branches and sub-branches in Mainland China, maintained overseas branches in Hong Kong, Singapore, Frankfurt, Johannesburg, Tokyo, Seoul, New York, Ho Chi Minh City, Sydney and Melbourne, and representative offices in Taipei and Moscow, and owns multiple subsidiaries, such as CCB Asia, CCB Financial Leasing, CCB International, CCB Trust, Sino-German Bausparkasse, CCB London, CCB Principal Asset Management, and CCB Life. The Group provides comprehensive financial services to its customers.

CCB will move into 1 Boulevard Royal -a building from the real estate developer Ikogest- in November 2013 for an initial period of 12 years. The Ikogest CEO Eric Lux is very proud to welcome such an eminent tenant. International real estate advisor CBRE has assisted the bank in its office building selection.

After being occupied for 14 years by the Swiss private bank Pictet & Cie, the building at 1 Boulevard Royal started undergoing a full renovation last September. The facades have been left intact, but developer Ikogest has demolished the building's interior and is currently rebuilding it to a high standard in terms of quality, technology and comfort. This iconic Luxembourg City building has become the first private building in the country to receive BREEAM Excellent pre-certification: a leading sustainable construction label.
