The operating hours of the airport are daily from 06:00 to 23:00. Scheduled and announced works on the runway took place on 21 September 2023. Due to mainly weather-related delays of some flights, on this same day the works started later in order to allow 3 Luxair aircraft (LG 8904, LG 3838, LG 886) to land, even after 23:00, in order to avoid diversions. However, as flight LG662 was scheduled to land after midnight, its diversion was inevitable.

Luxair and lux-Airport jointly clarify that it was not a case of refusing to land due to a few minutes' delay, but rather a delay of well over an hour, which, unfortunately, led to the diversion to Liège airport, commonly agreed by both companies.
