Villeroy & Boch supports a project helping young people in Cape Verde
Presentation of a cheque for €750 to SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde
To mark its 15th anniversary and during the end-of-year festivities, Villeroy & Boch launched its new Rovaniemi mug as part of its NewWave Caffe Cities of the World collection. The mug was an instant attraction to customers across the world and quickly flew off the shelves! In Luxembourg, Villeroy & Boch, partnering with SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde for the first time, decided to apportion 10% of the total sales of the mug achieved in its three main city stores during the month of December, to a project of SOS Villages d’Enfants Monde.
Laurent Turmes, managing director of Villeroy & Boch S.à .r.l. and international marketing director for the tableware division, has just handed over a cheque for €750 to Sophie Glesener, director of SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde, during a ceremony held at the association's offices in the presence of Jessika Rauch, head of PR for the tableware division at Villeroy & Boch and Anne Schweizer, head of partnerships at SOS Villages d’Enfants Monde. This sum will be donated to the SOS Children’s of São Domingos in Cape Verde. The Luxembourg association funded the construction, expansion and, five years ago, a youth centre. Its local SOS partner on site, committed to improving working conditions for young people in the country where unemployment has reached peak levels, has developed a professional integration programme there. Fifteen years after the opening of the children's village, the young adults are now standing on their own two feet - working or studying.
On behalf of the team at SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde, Sophie Glesener thanked Laurent Turmes and the Villeroy & Boch teams for this excellent initiative. "SOS believes that no child should grow up alone and focuses on the protection and the rights of children. It aims to strengthen the capacities of the community so that it can provide a protective environment for children and become empowered. It encourages young people to take an active part in decisions that affect their lives".
Laurent Turmes concluded, "On behalf of the company, I commend the unfailing commitment of SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde and I am delighted that, through the Christmas campaign, Villeroy & Boch has been able to make a contribution and as such support one of the association's major projects".
