Strengthening of partnership between ArcelorMittal and CFL cargo
ArcelorMittal and CFL cargo announce the reinforcement of their partnership by signing a new contract to increase the railway services between ArcelorMittal production sites in Luxembourg and the goods transport across Europe.
By signing this agreement, ArcelorMittal and CFL cargo reaffirm their successful partnership, dating back to the creation of CFL cargo in 2006. The services covered by the related contracts include the transport of raw materials to the main production sites in Luxembourg, the internal transport between and on these production sites and the shipment of finished long products in Europe via the single wagonload network. The provision of the adapted wagon fleet for the transport of long steel products including the repair and maintenance services are also part of the agreement.
Both partners are convinced that this cooperation will further push rail solutions that help cutting greenhouse gas emissions.
Ms Laurence Zenner, CEO of CFL cargo: “We are pleased to re-strengthen our ties with ArcelorMittal and to contribute to reduce carbon emissions further by offering railway solutions as a seamless and sustainable mode of transport across Europe. Our partnership also demonstrates how the integration of rail services within industrial production sites can help increasing their processing capacity. Moreover, it has laid the groundwork for developing more energy-efficient rail solutions for the transport of the final goods on major rail corridors.”
Mr Roland Bastian, Head of country ArcelorMittal Luxembourg: ”Rail is an important asset in diversifying our logistical means to supply our industrial sites with raw materials and manage our shipments of finished products. It has the advantage of being well positioned in terms of carbon emissions and thus fits perfectly into our CSR strategy. The renewal of this partnership reflects the shared interest of our two companies and our common desire to seek competitive, flexible and efficient logistics solutions.”
