Max Welbes joins as partner in the firm’s investment management team*. He is joining from the Luxembourg office of Loyens & Loeff, where he was partner in the investment management department. Max focuses on German-speaking jurisdictions, with over fifteen years of experience in setting up alternative funds, UCITS and structured products.

Yuri Auffinger comes to the firm from Linklaters as of counsel to lead Norton Rose Fulbright’s new employment and litigation practices in Luxembourg. Yuri advises clients on all aspects of employment law, including pensions and benefits, remuneration policy, surveillance at the workplace, whistle-blowing, transfers of businesses, as well as individual and collective dismissals. Yuri also advises clients on all types of commercial and social litigation.

Stéphane Braun, Head of Norton Rose Fulbright Luxembourg SCS, comments:

“The arrival of Max and Yuri adds tremendous value to our global practice. Their capabilities enhance the range of our cross-border offering, as we look to broaden the scale of our Luxembourg services.

“Max’s appointment aids our ambition to further develop a strong investment management practice. Yuri’s arrival, to spearhead our employment and litigation practices, is an important strategic development and will support the needs of our clients in the financial sector seeking a full-service law firm.”

Norton Rose Fulbright’s team in Luxembourg works closely with its global business and is particularly strong in investment funds, real estate, banking and finance, mainstream corporate, M&A, commercial and cross-border tax planning. The firm’s Luxembourg office opened in June 2017 with three partners and has since grown to a team of more than 18 fee earners across an expanding range of legal practice areas.
