ING News: ING supporting the Orange Week!
Human rights are universal. This means that every person around the world deserves to be treated with dignity and have their interests considered equally
While governments have the duty to protect individuals against human rights abuses, businesses are increasingly recognising their own moral, legal, and commercial responsibility. The OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises and the UN Guiding Principles for Business and Human Rights form the basis for what businesses should adhere to. ING has partnered with the UN since we signed the UN Global Compact in 2006.
ING has decided to support the Orange Week in Luxembourg, by lighting up its head office on the Place de la Gare square in the colour orange from 19 November. Screens for ING employees (in every branch), as well as all the bank’s ATMs display the message “Stop violence against women”, encouraging the public to participate in a march against violence. This march is to take place on 25 November at 10:30 am on the Glacis square.
ING is thus encouraging each and every citizen to take part in the Orange Week so as to send a strong message and show that violence against women is unacceptable and must be stopped. To do this, the topic must be put in the centre of public discussion to raise awareness and come up with effective, long-lasting solutions to this scourge on society.
