KfW lists largest green bond this year on Luxembourg Stock Exchange
The Luxembourg Stock Exchange (LuxSE) listed and admitted to trading on 27 October 2015 a green bond issued by Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW), the German government-owned development bank.
With an issue amount of EUR 1.5 billion, this is the largest bond of its type this year. The issue amount matches last year’s record for a green bond, which was also listed in Luxembourg and issued by KfW.
This latest issue (ISIN XS1311459694) is a tranche of KfW’s Euro Medium Term Note programme, bears an annual interest of 0.125% and matures in 2020.
The proceeds of the issue will be used for project financing and loans under KfW’s “Renewable Energies – Standard” programme, which aims to promote the development of electricity from renewable resources. The objective of all projects under this programme is the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
LuxSE was the first stock exchange to list a green bond in 2007 and this latest listing underscores its willingness to accompany issuers in the development of the ESG investments segment.
