We realise that the new generation of businesses who are creating and designing web solutions can no longer afford to waste precious time and money managing a full hosting infrastructure that can be complex. What’s more important is that they cannot afford to make a massive investment in infrastructure without knowing in advance how successful their product will be. Luxembourg Web Services has been designed with this in mind. We have created a solution that enables cloud resources, as well as all JAVA or PHP applications, to be deployed with potential for horizontal and vertical expansions. The set up is automated, and the client stays in control of its operating costs

First step for Luxembourg Web Services
Zap and Squareboard will be among the first customers of Luxembourg Web Services, a new solution offered by Telecom Luxembourg Private Operator with the support of its Californian partner Jelastic.

Luxembourg Web Services is a platform offering IT infrastructure services to businesses in the form of on demand cloud-based web services, enabling Telecom Luxembourg Private Operator to offer its clients and partners a plug and play flexible infrastructure and resources at their fingertips to meet their requirements.

This solution, quite unique in Luxembourg, gives ICT managers the freedom to focus on their core business without having to worry about infrastructure problems that are often time consuming and expensive to resolve. “We realise that the new generation of businesses who are creating and designing web solutions can no longer afford to waste precious time and money managing a full hosting infrastructure that can be complex. The set up is automated, and the client stays in control of its operating costs” explains Julien Doussot, Chief Product Officer at Telecom Luxembourg Private Operator.

Squareboard as a pioneer in Luxembourg
Zap, a Luxembourg company with a presence in the Grand Duchy for eight years, mainly known for its social network Zap.lu*, will use Luxembourg Web Services’ powerful basis and capacities to launch Squareboard, a brand new platform that combines intranet capabilities with social networking functions. Squareboard, which has been operational since the beginning of July, is already attracting prestigious Luxembourg companies, such as Luxaviation and CDCL.

“Squareboard has been built on the basis of extensive experience in social networking and expertise in application development. Consisting of a series of applications, Squareboard enables participants to communicate and perform their tasks all in one location, in total security. As well as its potential for collaboration, organisation, sharing, publication, communication, documentation and research, the platform can be configured and personalised to the requirements of each organisation”, explains Xavier Schaeffer, CEO of Squareboard.

“Accessible from computers and mobile devices alike, Squareboard brings people, projects and processes together and responds to the increased need for collaboration, dissemination of information and mobility within a business. Squareboard can be connected to most application servers, thus making it possible to centralise different applications and enable them to communicate on a single platform in total security”.

“With Luxembourg Web Services, we have the advantage of a fast, flexible and resilient tool in terms of both configuration and resources, all within a budget that is aligned to our development” concludes Xavier Schaeffer.

Made & hosted in Luxembourg
This partnership between Telecom Luxembourg Private Operator and Zap also reflects the desire to promote the Luxembourg market and the Made in Luxembourg brand. “Being in the Grand Duchy isn’t just a matter of having offices in the territory, it’s also about being an innovator and active vendor within the country itself. With Luxembourg Web Services, we shall be the first to offer services designed and tailored for local players, giving them the ability to stand out both locally and internationally” explains Julien Doussot, Chief Product Officer at Telecom Luxembourg Private Operator.

“We, are keen to promote the Made in Luxembourg brand and concept, because we are part of the economic fabric of the country and it seems sensible for us to create partnerships with local players; moreover these vendors are more competitive than reputed global players. Telecom Luxembourg Private Operator is a perfect example” adds Xavier Schaeffer.

“Confidence is the driving force in our partnership with Telecom Luxembourg Private Operator” concludes Xavier Schaeffer.
