The UCI is the worldwide governing body for cycling. It develops and oversees cycling in all its forms and for all people, as a competitive sport, a healthy leisure activity and a sustainable means of transport. Its mission is to shape the future of cycling by inspiring more people to ride bicycles, by making the sport more attractive whilst contributing to the wellbeing of the world’s population and promoting sustainable development.

For one of its flagship events, the UCI was looking for a live streaming expert which could ensure the broadcast of its content on social networks while following the broadcast rights on a global scale. The 2021 UCI Road World Championships, which took place in Belgium, regroups more than 10 events, including multiple women and men races as well as the awards ceremonies.

BCE, a European leader in media services, system integration and software development answered the UCI with its BCE Sports set of services, including live streaming and geo-blocking features. Broadcast on a global scale, BCE ensured the reception of the main satellite feed and streamed live the event on UCI Facebook page as well as on UCI Youtube account. To comply with the international broadcast rights, BCE managed the geo-blocking for each country following a strict daily policy.

“Streaming live events on social networks has become an important communication channel for the sports industry. As media experts, it was paramount to deliver integrated services to the UCI. Our streaming services include numerous features which perfectly answer the needs of the UCI, both in terms of quality and content regulations. We are looking forward to continue to deliver these added-value services to the UCI” Concludes Maria Möller, Partnership & Project Manager at BCE.
