Josep Ponsirenas is new Managing Director of Andbank Luxembourg Business Area
Andbank Group, a specialist in private banking, has appointed Josep Ponsirenas as new Managing Director of the Business Area in the Luxembourg subsidiary.
In his position as Managing Director of the Business Area his principal task will be to stimulate growth in the business of Private Banking and for institutional clients of Andbank Luxembourg, as benchmark in international Private Banking, in management of its own business and for the rest of the Group’s jurisdictions. His experience and knowledge of private banking combined with his training in Corporate Finance will enable him to take a global view of the business and thus detect existing opportunities and meet the challenge.
Ponsirenas, who comes from Banca March where he held the post of Director for Catalonia and Aragon, has more than 20 years’ experience in private and business banking and team leadership. Earlier he was director of a branch in Banco Español de Crédito and in Caixa Catalunya, in both internal departments and the commercial network, with business management functions.
He graduated in Business Administration and Management at UAB, has European Financial Advisor Levels I and II (EFPA), a master’s degree in the Executive Development Program and Executive Master in Corporate Finance and Law, both from ESADE.
This new appointment reinforces the bank’s commitment to taking on and promoting professionals who have had a broad professional career and are highly specialised in the financial sector.
During the last year, the Andbank Group has engaged professionals such as Jorge Maortua, former markets and wholesale banking manager in Banc Santander, as a group director, and Josep Piqué, ex-minister with wide experience in the business field, both now members of the new advisory council of Andbank España.
Anna Olsina, assistant general manager of Business in the Andbank Group, says, “Andbank Luxembourg is doing tremendous work in consolidating international business, with more than 1,000 million euro of assets under management. For us, it is good strategy to use Josep Ponsirenas’s experience to stimulate business in institutional and private banking in the Luxembourg market, continuing growth and strengthening our group in the international field”.
