Frost & Sullivan awards APATEQ for its membrane technology
Based on its recent analyses of the advanced filtration technology market, Frost & Sullivan recognizes APATEQ with the 2014 European Technology Innovation Leadership Award for its pioneering integrated membrane system, which is, among others, applied for oil-water separation at oil and gas fields. The award ceremony took place in Monte Carlo on Thursday, October 30, 2014.
We are delighted about the positive recognition for our proprietary membrane technology by a prestigious organization and opinion leader for technical innovations in the industry as Frost & Sullivan

The wastewater treatment market is dominated by contaminant removal systems that are largely dependent on chemicals or enormous amounts of energy, or both. In the oil and gas industry for example, most of these systems do not use membranes but chemical additives for the separation process because oil often tends to cover and clog the membrane’s pores. APATEQ’s unique treatment systems with anti-clogging and anti-fouling properties prevent membrane clogging without using additional chemicals, achieving outstanding separation results at low operation costs.
“The effluent from APATEQ’s oil-water separation system ‘OilPaq’ can be used for re-injection into the borehole or the fracturing process. As it is not dependent on chemicals or enormous amounts of energy, APATEQ’s novel integrated membrane system breaks new ground in water filtration,” said Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst Lekshmy Ravi. “APATEQ aspires to be a comprehensive provider of water and wastewater treatment solutions and strives to provide maximum efficiency by offering simple treatment at low investments.”
“We are delighted about the positive recognition for our proprietary membrane technology by a prestigious organization and opinion leader for technical innovations in the industry as Frost & Sullivan,” said APATEQ CTO Ulrich Bäuerle. “Being honored with this award makes us particularly proud and it once more proves, along with continuously rising customer attention, that our efforts to develop high-performance water and wastewater treatment, especially oil-water separation systems at low operation costs, pay off.”
Each year, Frost & Sullivan presents this award to the company that has developed an innovative element in a product by leverage leading-edge technologies. The award recognizes the value added features and benefits of the product and the increased ROI it offers customers, which in turn increases customer acquisition and overall market penetration potential.
The award ceremony took place at the Frost & Sullivan 2014 Excellence in Best Practice Banquet in Monte Carlo, Monaco on Thursday, October 30, 2014.
